Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Wafflin (“we,” “us”) is a private community platform for artists and their fans. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have about it. Wafflin is built to be intentional, not extractive — we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address, and, if you sign up with Google, your name and profile photo. We store a copy of your name, email, and avatar URL to run the app.

Content you create

If you claim an artist page, we store the page name (slug) and bio you provide. Journal entries, Q&A posts, and announcements you publish are public and stored as written. Comments you post on Q&A and announcement posts are public and tied to your account. Fan mail is private, one-to-one — visible only to you and the artist you send it to (or who sends it to you). Drafts you haven't published are visible only to you.

Relationship data

Who you follow, and who follows you, is stored but never shown publicly as a count or list to anyone but you.

Analytics

We plan to use PostHog to understand how the product is used — which pages get visited, and whether people complete or abandon specific actions (like starting a claim request and not finishing it). This will be used only to improve the product; it will never be shown to artists or fans, and never used to target ads, because we don't have any. When this is turned on, we will configure it to not record session replays, not capture the contents of anything you type, and to only resolve your approximate location to a country, not a precise address. We'll update this page when analytics goes live.

How we use your information

To run the core product (showing you the artists and fans you interact with), to let a founder manually review artist page requests, to send you transactional email (like a confirmation that your claim request was received), and to understand and improve the product through the analytics described above.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. We use a small number of service providers to run Wafflin, each of which processes data on our behalf:

These providers may process data outside your home country. Each maintains appropriate safeguards for handling data across borders.

Your choices

You can unfollow artists and stop using Wafflin at any time. Fan mail you send is intentionally one-way, like a letter — once sent, you won't see it again on Wafflin, only the artist will. To request a copy of your data or to have your account and its associated content permanently deleted, email us at the address below — we're working on making this self-serve directly from your account settings.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we permanently remove your account, your content, and anything tied to it (comments, fan mail, follows) within a reasonable time.

Children

Wafflin is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
